Frequently asked questions

Straight answers about accounts, formats, mobile use, and common failures.

Is the downloader free?

Yes. Core downloads on Go Down are free. Ads may appear where you configure them in the CMS. We do not require payment to save a file.

Do I need an account?

No. Paste a URL, choose a format, and save. There is no mandatory registration.

What video quality is supported?

Whatever the source publishes and our analyzer can list — commonly 360p, 720p, 1080p, and 4K/2160p when available. Pick Best or a specific row after analyze.

Can I download on Android?

Yes. Open Go Down in Chrome or another mobile browser, paste the link, and save. No APK is required.

Can I use it on iPhone?

Yes in Safari or Chrome on iOS. Files save through the browser’s download flow (Files app / share sheet depending on iOS version).

Where are downloaded files saved?

On your device, in the browser’s usual download location (Downloads folder on desktop; Files or Downloads on phones). Server-side copies expire after about 6 hours and are not a permanent cloud library.

Why isn’t my URL working?

Common causes: private or age-gated posts, login walls, geo blocks, broken links, or a network disabled in our CMS. Try the official share URL for a public video on an enabled platform.

How long does processing take?

Short clips often finish in seconds to a couple of minutes. Long or 4K videos take longer because we fetch and merge streams on the server before giving you a private save link.

Which platforms are supported?

Currently enabled: Facebook. The Supported platforms section lists only networks turned on in the CMS.

Online video downloader

Go Down takes a public video (or audio) URL, checks what formats the source offers, prepares a file on our server, and gives you a private link to save it. The tool sits above the fold so you are not hunting past ads or click mazes.

You stay in the browser. There is no required account, extension, or install. Ads may appear below the tool when enabled — not as fake Download buttons.

Supported URLs and platforms

We only accept networks enabled in the CMS. Right now that includes: Facebook. Each enabled network can also have its own landing page (for example a YouTube downloader page) with the same engine.

Best results come from the official share URL. Private, members-only, or login-gated posts usually fail — that is a source restriction, not a missing button on our side.

Formats, quality, and how downloading works

After analyze you typically see Video rows (MP4 or WEBM at listed resolutions) and Audio rows (MP3, M4A, or WAV when streams exist). We remux or merge streams when a site splits video and audio so the file plays cleanly offline.

Quality is capped by the upload: we cannot invent 4K if the source only published 720p. Long files take longer because preparation happens server-side before your save link appears.

Devices, accounts, and limitations

Desktop and mobile browsers are supported (Android and iPhone included). Registration is not required. Rate limits and concurrent job caps protect the server from abuse.

Limitations: not every site works; DRM, paywalls, and private media are out of scope; temporary processing URLs under /dl/ are not meant for search engines; you must only download content you have the right to keep. See Terms, Copyright, and DMCA for permitted use.
